The Black Sheep are Ciaran Murtagh & Andrew Barnett Jones, multi-award-winning writers, head writers, script editors and series developers on a whole host of children’s television shows, podcasts, games and commercials.

Together they have written hundreds of episodes of shows enjoyed by millions of children around the world.

Equally at home writing individual episodes, assembling and overseeing writing teams and developing dynamic characters and rich, deep worlds for new properties, Ciaran and Andrew are master storytellers who bring heart, humour and passion to everything they do.

Numberblocks are six...

Series 6 of Numberblocks has just landed on the BBC and will roll out across the world in due course. Andrew and Ciaran wrote every episode of this series and there are some corkers to come! Looking forward to hearing your favourites and see the teaser trailer here.

The Black Sheep BAA again!

Ciaran and Andrew have been nominated for the British Animation Awards Writers Award in 2024. It's for an episode of Lloyd of the Flies called Gummy Goes Off, available to view on ITVX. It's always a thrill to be recognised by your peers, and a reminder that along with head writing and developing work for companies all over the world, Ciaran and Andrew are also award worthy scriptwriters in their own right. In addition Lloyd of the Flies, a show they also head wrote, is up for Best Children's Show, alongside The Rubbish World of Dave Spud, a show they have enjoyed scripting on for the past three series. We can't wait to see you all on the red carpet and congratulations and the best of luck to our fellow nominees!

Deep in the Bowl on ITVX

The Black Sheep are thrilled that Deep in the Bowl, a fishy sketch show we head wrote during Covid, has hit the UK. We loved getting back to our sketch show roots and created over 150 scenarios for these fin-tastic five minute eps. Stream the first half of the series on ITVX now.

Mr Bean rides again!

The Black Sheep are pleased to be heading up the writing team for Series 4 of Mr Bean, continuing on from their work on Series 2 and 3. Working directly with comedy hero Rowan Atkinson to break stories is always a thrill and the ideas are flowing. The Makery S2 hits Sky and Now TV

The Black Sheep had a blast scripting all 20 episoides of the second series of the hit make and do show The Makery, now hitting screens in the UK on Sky and Now TV. It's a wonderfully inventive show and brings a smile to our faces every time we tune in. It'll be hitting Peacock in the US soon, we'll keep you posted.
